SpaceX Vice President Lauren Dreyer has lauded the Bangladeshi government for its remarkable efficiency and coordination in facilitating the launch of Starlink operations in the country.

During a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the state guest house Jamuna on Friday, Dreyer expressed her admiration for the streamlined approach taken by officials.

“We operate in over 150 countries and regions, but we've never experienced such promptness and clarity of action,” said Dreyer. “On behalf of everyone at SpaceX, I extend my deepest gratitude. We look forward to working closely with your team.”

Welcoming the SpaceX delegation, Professor Yunus highlighted the importance of connectivity, particularly during Bangladesh’s monsoon season, when floods and waterlogging often disrupt communication. “In such times, reliable technological connectivity becomes crucial,” he said.

Dr Yunus also emphasized the need to expand access to education and healthcare in remote and hilly areas. “These regions lack schools, teachers, and medical professionals. We aim to introduce online education in 100 schools, so students in isolated areas can learn without relocating,” he said.

On the topic of digital health, he added, “Pregnant women often rely on others to visit doctors. With telemedicine, they can consult physicians from their homes. This service will also support Bangladeshis abroad, many of whom feel uncomfortable speaking with foreign doctors due to language barriers.”

Professor Yunus further proposed expanding these digital services globally with SpaceX's support. “We’re starting small, but with your help, these models could be replicated across the world.”

Impressed by the initiatives, Dreyer responded, “The example you’ve set should be shared with leaders around the world. If Professor Yunus can achieve this in Bangladesh, so can others.” She also praised his firm stance against corruption.

“Delivering public services directly to citizens is a powerful idea. I travel extensively and know how deeply corruption affects governance. Your approach to decentralizing services through technology is truly impactful,” she added.

The meeting was also attended by SpaceX Global Engagement Consultant Richard Griffiths, Bangladesh's National Security Advisor Dr. Khawliur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Fayez Ahmad Tayyeb, and Executive Chairmen of BIDA and BEZA, Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud bin Harun.
