Special alert at all airports over fear of cyber attacks
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) issues a special alert across all international and domestic airports in the country amid fears of cyber attacks. Ten specific directives are sent to the airports in this regard.
The directives, signed by Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, Member (Planning and Operations) of CAAB, are circulated among all airport chiefs and senior civil aviation officials.
The letter mentions that cyber attacks have recently taken place at airports around the world. To ensure uninterrupted air transport operations in Bangladesh, caution is essential. The directives include: using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious e-mails and links, updating software and antivirus regularly, refraining from using pirated software, and not installing personal apps on official devices. Emphasis is also placed on the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Additionally, the instructions require that any cyber security-related problem be reported immediately to CAAB’s CERT team, the IT department, and the National Cyber Incident Response Team.
