Special committee formed with Salahuddin Ahmed as chair

A 12-member special committee has been formed by the National Parliament to amend the Bangladesh Constitution, with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed appointed as its head. The committee was constituted on Monday night, July 13.

Chief Whip Noorul Islam proposed the formation of the special committee on behalf of Leader of the House Tarique Rahman. The committee was scheduled to have 17 members, but the opposition did not nominate anyone despite being requested to do so.

Other members of the committee include: BNP Chief Whip Noorul Islam, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, BNP MPs Zainal Abedin, Mir Helal Uddin, Farzana Sharmin, Shakila Farzana and Mahmudul Haque, Ganashonghati Andolan MP Junayed Abdur Rahim Saki, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) MP Andaleeb Rahman Partha, Ganadhikar Parishad MP Nurul Haque Nur, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh MP Md Oliullah.
