Special flight initiative to bring Bangladeshis back from Qatar
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Qatar has taken an initiative to arrange special flights to bring Bangladeshi citizens stranded in Qatar amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, along with their family members, back to Dhaka.
The information was announced in a press release issued by the embassy on Wednesday.
According to the embassy, communication has already been established with the Government of Qatar and Qatar Airways regarding the special flights. Children, women and elderly family members will be given priority.
To prepare a list of interested passengers, the embassy has started accepting applications through a Google Form.
The embassy said stranded Bangladeshis can urgently submit their applications by filling out the Google Form. There are approximately 400,000 Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar, accounting for about 12.5 percent of the country’s total population. They mainly contribute to the construction sector, service industries and various private sectors.
The embassy’s initiative is expected to provide an opportunity for expatriates to return home safely.
