SPs to be made OSD or sent to forced retirement for their role in elections in 2018
Adviser to the Youth and Sports Ministry Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has announced on Friday evening that police superintendents (SPs) involved in the 2018 “night-time voting” would either be made Officers on Special Duty (OSD) or sent to forced retirement.
In a Facebook post this evening, he said: "All SPs who were in charge of the 64 districts during the 2018 election will either be made OSD or face forced retirement."
His remarks follow the recent government decision to take similar action against former deputy commissioners (DCs) who served during the controversial 2014, 2018, and 2024 national elections.
These officials are being either forced into retirement or reassigned as OSDs.
