SRB has cordoned off the field behind Ganabhaban, more than 20 cocktails-petrol bombs recovered

Special Response Battalion (SRB) has cordoned off the area after recovering a large number of cocktails and petrol bombs from the field of the former trade fair behind Ganabhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of the capital. The members of the Bomb Disposal Unit have reached the spot to deactivate the recovered explosives.

SRB started the drive at the field of the former trade fair on the basis of secret information in the afternoon on Monday (September 28). The law and order maintaining force has informed that more than 20 cocktails and petrol bombs have been recovered from there so far during the drive.

Additional DIG Naimul Hasan, commander of SRB-2, confirmed the matter and said the explosives have been recovered by conducting the drive on the basis of secret information. The Bomb Disposal Unit has been informed to deactivate these safely.

After the drive the members of the law and order maintaining force have cordoned off the entire area considering the matter of security. At the same time the movement of general people is also being controlled as learnt from the spot.

However how the recovered cocktails and petrol bombs were kept there could not be known immediately. The law and order maintaining force has not yet disclosed any information on the matter of who are involved with the stockpiling of these either.

Additional DIG Naimul Hasan informed that detailed information on this matter will be informed after finishing the recovery drive and the process of deactivating the explosives. Subsequent measures will be taken on the basis of investigation if anyone’s involvement is found in this incident.
