SSC examinee stabbed by muggers dies at DMCH
An SSC examinee was fatally stabbed by muggers in Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar area and died early Wednesday morning at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased, Morshed Alam Tanim, 18, a student of Ahmed Bawany Academy School and College in Bangshal, was attacked near Makur Shah Mazar on Nazim Uddin Road late Monday night.
According to Tanim’s father, Tarek Firoz Alam, his son was returning home around 11:30pm when two muggers tried to snatch his mobile phone. When Tanim resisted, the assailants stabbed him in the abdomen and fled the scene.
Passers-by rushed the injured youth to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to DMCH for further treatment. After receiving primary care, Tanim was taken home but his condition worsened, prompting readmission to DMCH, where he died at approximately 5:30am Tuesday.
Chawkbazar Police Station duty officer Sub-Inspector Razu Ahmed said a complaint has been filed and an investigation is ongoing. The body is currently at DMCH morgue awaiting post-mortem.
No case has yet been formally registered.
