SSC passers get 9 scholarship opportunities for higher secondary studies

More than 1.13 million students who passed this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations are now preparing for admission to Class XI, with several government and private scholarship programmes offering financial support for higher secondary education.

A number of scholarships are currently accepting applications, while others are expected to open in the coming months. Students have been advised to carefully check eligibility requirements and deadlines before applying.

Among the major opportunities is the Dutch-Bangla Bank Scholarship, which is accepting applications until September 4. Selected students will receive Tk 2,500 per month for two years at the higher secondary level, along with annual allowances for educational materials and clothing.

The programme prioritises students from rural and disadvantaged areas and reserves a significant share for female students.

The Shahjalal Islami Bank Foundation Scholarship is also accepting applications until August 27. The programme targets academically strong students from financially disadvantaged families. Applicants must meet different GPA requirements depending on their academic group and location, while their parents’ annual income must not exceed Tk 200,000.

The Board Scholarship programme awards merit and general scholarships based on SSC results. Lists are generally published several months after results, with the process managed through the relevant education boards and government education directorates.

Other opportunities include assistance under the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust, scholarships and stipends through Sonali Bank and government programmes, and support from the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board for children of Bangladeshi migrant workers.

Private initiatives also provide assistance. Meghna Group’s ‘Number One Babar Kriti Shontan’ programme offers scholarships and other educational benefits to outstanding SSC graduates from marginalised families, while the Manush Manusher Jonno Foundation provides support to financially disadvantaged students when new programmes are announced.

Students should rely only on the latest official notices for eligibility criteria, required documents and application deadlines. Incomplete applications, incorrect information or missed deadlines may result in rejection.
