State minister, wife injured as car crash in Bogura

State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari and his wife sustained minor injuries after their car crashed while trying to avoid an elderly woman who suddenly crossed the road in Shibganj of Bogura.

The accident took place near Gopinathpur in Kichak union on the Mokamtola-Joypurhat road on Friday morning (September 4).

Police said the state minister was travelling from Dhaka to his constituency at the time of the accident.

According to police, the elderly woman, identified as Firoza, suddenly crossed the road in front of the car. The driver swerved to avoid hitting her but lost control, sending the vehicle into a nearby paddy field.

The state minister and his wife received first aid for minor injuries. Firoza was also injured and was taken to TMSS Hospital for treatment.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the accident were being examined.
