The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a storm alert for seven divisions of the country. In a notification on Monday, April 27, the department said that between 11:00 am and the next 48 hours, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience storms accompanied by lightning, with wind speeds of 60 to 80 kilometres per hour blowing from the west or north-west. The notification also said there is a risk of thunderstorms with lightning and isolated hailstorms during this period.

দেশের সাত বিভাগে কালবৈশাখী ঝড়ের সতর্কবার্তা জারি করেছে আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তর। সোমবার (২৭ এপ্রিল) এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে সংস্থাটি জানায়, সোমবার বেলা ১১টা থেকে পরবর্তী ৪৮ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে রংপুর, রাজশাহী, ময়মনসিংহ, ঢাকা, খুলনা, চট্টগ্রাম ও সিলেট বিভাগের ওপর দিয়ে বিদ্যুৎ চমকানোসহ পশ্চিম বা উত্তর-পশ্চিম দিক থেকে ঘণ্টায় ৬০ থেকে ৮০ কিলোমিটার বেগে ঝড় বয়ে যেতে পারে। বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে আরও জানানো হয়, এই সময়ে কালবৈশাখী ঝড়ের সঙ্গে বজ্রপাত এবং বিচ্ছিন্নভাবে শিলাবৃষ্টিরও আশঙ্কা রয়েছে।
