Storm and thunderstorm alert issued for seven districts

The Meteorological Department has forecast rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty or squally winds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour over seven districts by noon on Tuesday, May 5.

In a forecast issued for inland river ports from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm, the department said that temporary gusty or squally winds, along with rain or thunderstorms, may blow from the west or north-west over Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet regions. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal number one.

In the weather forecast for Dhaka and surrounding areas, the department said the sky will be partly cloudy, with chances of rain or thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the south or south-east at 10-15 kilometres per hour, and the day temperature may drop slightly.

The department recorded a temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius in Dhaka at 6:00 am on Tuesday, with air humidity at 86 per cent. The minimum temperature of the day stood at 23.8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature recorded on Monday was 32.2 degrees Celsius. Light rainfall was recorded in Dhaka over the past 24 hours.
