Storm likely in seven regions by noon
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), in its forecast for the country’s inland river ports valid until 1 PM on Tuesday (August 19), stated that storms may sweep across seven regions by noon.
According to the BMD forecast, rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusts of wind at speeds of 45–60 km/h from the south or southeast are likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar.
River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
The sky over Dhaka may remain cloudy from morning until noon. Light rain is also possible later in the day. Winds are expected to blow from the south and southeast at speeds of 10 to 15 km/h, it added.
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in the capital this morning was 26°C with a humidity level of 96%. A slight drop in temperature is expected during the day. Over the past 24 hours, the city received 5 millimeters of rainfall.
