Storm warning for 7 dists by noon, signal no 3 issued for 4 sea ports
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning that there may be thunderstorms and heavy rain with gusty winds in seven districts of the country by noon today.
On Wednesday morning (July 16), the department issued a warning for inland river ports, predicting temporary gusty winds of 45 to 60 km/h from the south or southeast. These winds are expected to impact the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar, with possible rain or thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been advised to raise Signal No. 1.
At the same time, a separate warning has been issued for the sea ports, highlighting the potential for gusty winds caused by a pressure difference in the northern Bay of Bengal and Bangladesh’s coastal areas.
As a precaution, sea ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to raise Signal No. 3.
Furthermore, fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been urged to stay near the coast and exercise caution until further notice.
