Storm warnings issued for Dhaka and 13 districts, river ports hoist signal 1

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast temporary gusty winds with rain and thundershowers over Dhaka and 13 other districts across the country. River ports in the affected areas have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No 1.

The weather office provided this information in a forecast for the country's inland river ports for Tuesday, August 4, valid from 5am to 1pm.

According to the forecast, temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60 kilometres per hour from the south or southeast direction, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may occur over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions.

The Met Office has directed river ports in these areas to hoist local cautionary signal No 1 due to the risk of storms, rain and adverse weather.
