Storm with rain likely in five diatricts

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in five regions of the country, prompting authorities to issue cautionary signals for inland river ports.
In a bulletin for inland river ports valid from 5:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday (May 6), the Met Office said Rangpur, Dinajpur, Tangail, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or northwest at speeds of 45–60 kmph, along with rain or thundershowers.
River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist signal number 1.
In its 24-hour general forecast, the Met Office said many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions may see light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with temporary gusty winds by 6:00pm today. Moderately heavy rainfall is also possible in some areas.
Despite the storms, day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain largely unchanged, the Met Office added, noting that the current trend of rainfall may continue over the next few days.
