Storm with winds up to 60 kmph likely in eight regions by noon

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast temporary rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds sweeping across eight regions of the country by Friday evening (May 15).

According to the weather bulletin issued for inland river ports on Friday (May 15), winds may blow at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour in parts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.

The forecast, signed by meteorologist Md. Tariful Newaz Kabir, said the affected areas may experience rain or thundershowers along with temporary squally weather originating from the west or north-west direction between 8:00am and 6:00pm.

River ports in the warned regions have been advised to display cautionary signal No. 1.

The weather office also urged vessels operating in those areas to remain cautious and closely monitor further weather updates amid the risk of sudden storms and rough conditions.
