Storms with 45-60 kmph winds likely in 13 regions: Met Office
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast storms with winds gusting up to 60 kilometres per hour over 13 regions, including the capital Dhaka, by 1:00 am on Saturday, June 13. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal number one.
According to a weather bulletin issued by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque for the country's inland river ports, the squally or gusty winds may blow from the west or north-west at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h over the regions of Jashore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Madaripur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.
The storms may be accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
Meanwhile, the morning forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds and lightning may occur in many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Barishal and Sylhet divisions, and in some places over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is also likely in some parts of the country. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.
