Storms with 60kmph winds likely in 18 regions tonight: Met office
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast storms and rainfall over 18 regions of the country tonight, with wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal number one.
The forecast was issued by meteorologist Md Omar Faruk in the inland river port bulletin on Saturday, June 6.
According to the forecast, until 1:00 am tonight, the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds of 45-60 kilometres per hour from the west or north-west, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
In the morning forecast, the meteorological office said that over the next 24 hours, many places in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning and light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country.
