Strict action after Nov 15 for those holding missing govt arms: RAB
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has announced rewards for providing information on the government's missing firearms and ammunition. If information on these firearms or ammunition is provided voluntarily and spontaneously until November 15, no legal action will be taken against the informant. Cash rewards will also be given at fixed rates for providing accurate information that helps recover firearms and ammunition.
This information was disclosed by Lt Col Md Mostafizur Rahman, commander of RAB-7, at an exchange meeting held at the media centre of RAB-7's Chandgaon camp (CPC-3) in Bahaddarhat, Chattogram city, around 11:30am on Monday, September 14. The meeting was held on the recovery of missing government firearms and various recent important issues.
According to RAB's public notice, a reward of Tk 2 lakh will be given for providing information leading to the recovery of rifles, submachine guns (SMG), light machine guns (LMG) and sniper rifles. For shotguns, pistols and gas guns, the reward amount is Tk 50,000.
Additionally, Tk 1,500 will be given for information on each sound grenade and tear shell, and Tk 50 per round for all types of ammunition.
RAB said at the press conference that the identity of the informant will be kept completely confidential and their overall security will be ensured. Legal protection will also be provided if information is given within the stipulated time.
However, if anyone is found in possession of missing government firearms and ammunition after November 15, or if any information in this regard is received, strict action will be taken against them under existing laws.
It was informed at the meeting that this public notice has been issued by RAB-7 (Chattogram) and RAB Headquarters in the public interest and to raise public awareness.
