A madrasa teacher in Muksudpur, Gopalganj, has been accused of severely beating a student over an alleged calculator theft. The injured student has been hospitalised, and the teacher has been taken into police custody.

The injured student, Ahmmed Molla, is the son of Shaon Molla from Dhalikandi village in the upazila. He is a student of the Qaida section at Kadampur Hafezia Madrasa. The accused teacher, Enamul Molla, is a resident of Kadampur village in the upazila.

According to local sources, a calculator went missing from the madrasa on Thursday night, and Ahmmed Molla was accused of stealing it. He was then beaten by teacher Enamul. His family admitted him to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition.

The student's father, Shaon Molla, alleged that his son was brutally beaten over a false theft accusation. He demanded a proper investigation and exemplary punishment for the accused teacher.

However, the madrasa director's brother, Aminul Haque, denied the allegations, claiming that the student was not beaten but had fallen and injured himself.

Muksudpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun said the accused teacher has been taken into preliminary police custody. Legal action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint from the victim's family.
