Student detained on suspicion of Chhatra League at Mirpur Bangla College
Snigdha Kumar Ray, a student of Mirpur Bangla College, has been detained on suspicion of being a Chhatra League activist from in front of the college in the capital and handed over to police by the college unit of Chatra Dal. He was handed over to Darus Salam thana police around 5:30pm on Sunday (September 20).
Snigdha Kumar Ray is a student of the Economics Department of the 2020-21 academic year at Mirpur Bangla College.
Md. Hafizur Rahman Sumon, joint convenor of Mirpur Bangla College Chhatra Dal, said Snigdha had been roaming around the campus since noon. According to his claim, Snigdha had come there to collect information on how to stage a procession on the campus. Sumon claimed that Snigdha was an active activist of Bangla College Chhatra League. Later he was detained and handed over to Darus Salam thana police.
It has been learnt that Snigdha Kumar Ray stayed for some time in the room of Mirpur Bangla College vice-principal Mitul Chowdhury. Later Chatra Dal leaders and activists took him out from there and beat him up. He was then taken to Darus Salam thana.
In this regard, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darus Salam thana Dulal Hossain said a youth has been handed over to the thana by Bangla College Chatra Dal on suspicion of being a Chhatra League activist. He was later taken to the thana. However, it has not yet been possible to verify whether he was involved with Chhatra League.
