A student in Sylhet has been admitted to the ICU of a hospital after being seriously injured after being electrocuted while hoisting the flag of his favorite team, Brazil, in the ongoing Football World Cup.

The accident occurred in the Kuchai Paschimbag area of ​​​​Dakshin Surma Upazila on Monday (June 15).

The injured Ibrahim Ali Hamid, 15, is the son of Akhter Mia of Kuchai Paschimbag area. He participated in the SSC examination this year.

Confirming this information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moglabazar Police Station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Shamsul Habib said that the injured teenager is being treated in the ICU of a private hospital in Subhanighat in the city. Doctors said that his condition is critical.

Quoting locals, OC Shamsul Habib said that Hamid and his friends were hoisting a long Brazilian flag on a tree near their house on Monday afternoon. At that time, Hamid was inadvertently electrocuted after climbing a nearby electricity pole.
