Student injuries in fall from running train
A polytechnic student named Sohanur Rahman Shahed, 19, was seriously injured after falling from a moving train in Rajshahi. Later, members of the fire service rescued him and admitted him to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital.
The incident took place in the Bhoruapara area of Belpukur in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi around 4:30pm on Thursday (April 16). The injured Shahed was going to Sirajganj on the Padma Express train (Rajshahi-Dhaka). He suffered a serious head injury in the accident. He is currently undergoing treatment in an unconscious state at the hospital.
Shahed is a third-semester computer science student of Chapainawabganj Polytechnic Institute. His home is in Goaldar Hakimpur village of Dinajpur district. He is the son of Md. Motaleb.
Local Mizanur Rahman said it is not known how he fell from the train. He was found lying injured and was rescued and taken to the hospital. Later, the family was contacted and they left Dinajpur.
He also said that some of Shahed's classmates came to the hospital and are taking care of his medical issues. After being injured, he regained consciousness once but could not speak. Later, he fell unconscious again. Various tests, including a CT scan, are underway.
In this regard, Mohammad Walif Hossain, Station Officer of Rajshahi University Fire Service, said that he was rescued and admitted to the hospital in an injured condition and is undergoing treatment.
