Student shot dead in Bagerhat

A student named Amir Hamza, 23, was shot dead after entering a house in Chitalmari upazila area of ​​Bagerhat. The incident took place in Shibpur village of the upazila on Thursday afternoon (March 26).

The deceased Amir Hamza is the son of Ruhul Amin Munshi of the village. He was a first-year undergraduate (honors) student of Khulna Government Sundarban College. He also worked at a diagnostic center.

According to police and local sources, Amir Hamza was talking to his father and uncle in the courtyard of the house around 4pm. At that time, six youths wearing helmets on three motorcycles entered the house and introduced themselves as police. Later, they chased Amir Hamza, but he tried to run away.

At one stage, when he fell on the bank of a canal, the miscreants shot him in the head, confirmed his death and fled the scene.

After the incident, the police recovered the body and preparations have been made to send it to Bagerhat District Hospital for autopsy.

Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shamim Hossain said that senior police officials have visited the scene. In addition to the district police, several teams from the CID, PBI and DB police have started working to identify those involved.
