Due to the students' agitation and road blockades over HSC and equivalent exams, various areas of the capital were practically brought to a standstill throughout the day today. Traffic was disrupted on important roads including Uttara, ECB Chattar, Manik Mia Avenue in the evening as well, causing severe traffic jams across Dhaka.

Deputy Police Commissioner of Tejgaon Traffic Division Rafiqul Islam said that traffic was disrupted on important roads due to road blockades at various places. Its impact was seen from morning to evening. The situation became more complicated especially as traffic was stopped on important roads like Manik Mia Avenue.

Meanwhile, a notification from the Gulshan Traffic Division said that traffic was stopped on the relevant roads due to the presence of students in front of Uttara BNS Tower and on both sides of ECB Chattar. As a result, severe traffic jams were created on the airport-bound section of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway. Long queues of vehicles reached the Kuril Flyover.

Traffic police said that due to the blockade, traffic movement in the area was almost paralyzed. Although limited traffic movement resumed after 5 pm, the traffic jam has not completely returned to normal. Considering the situation, the Traffic Department has requested the city residents to use alternative roads.
