The body of a 10-year-old madrasa student has been recovered in Banasree of Rampura in the capital.

The child's body was recovered from the bathroom of the 'Alokito Quran International Hifz Madrasa' in Banasree C Block at 11:30pm on Tuesday (May 19).

After an autopsy, the police said that the child's anus was unusually empty.

The deceased is Abdullah,10, son of Abul Kalam Azad from Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila. The child lived in the madrasa and studied in the Hifz department.

Rampura Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Saiful Islam confirmed the matter to the media.

He said that Abdullah was found hanging from a towel in the bathroom of the madrasa on Tuesday night. His body was recovered from there. Later, after completing the legal process, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on Wednesday (May 20) morning for an autopsy.

SI Md. Saiful Islam said, although initially it seemed like a suicide by hanging, the child's anus was observed to be unusually empty during the autopsy. This suggests that she was a victim of rape and may have committed suicide after the rape. However, the exact cause of death can be said with certainty only after receiving the autopsy report.
