Student's hanging body recovered from madrasa toilet

The body of a teenage student was found hanging in the toilet of a madrasa in Dhaka on Sunday (July 20).

The deceased was identified as Hafez Mohammad Taufiq Siam, 17, son of Md Salauddin Sardar from Gabura Union in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, was a student at Markaju Faizil Quran Al Islamia Madrasa in the Darus Salam area.

On information, Darus Salam police recovered the body, Azizul Islam, assistant sub-inspector, confirmed the death on Monday (July 21).

"An autopsy has been completed, though further details are being withheld for investigative purposes," the OC said.

Siam's family strongly denies claims of suicide, insisting that he was murdered. His father, Salauddin Sardar, stated, "My son would never commit suicide. He was disciplined, religious, and excelling in his studies, having won multiple national hifz competitions. This is clearly a murder."
