Students plan protests today demanding ban on AL
Students from various universities are planning protest rallies today, March 21, demanding a permanent ban on the Awami League (AL), following allegations by National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah.
In a Facebook post, Hasnat claimed a plot is being hatched to rehabilitate AL under India's influence.
After the post went viral, Dhaka University students staged a procession and announced another rally at the TSC intersection. Gono Odhikar Parishad, Students Against Discrimination (SAD), and other political groups have also called for protests.
They are also demanding the removal of Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman and the withdrawal of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus' remarks denying plans to ban AL.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Shafiqur Rahman added his voice to the call for justice, urging unity in the goal of holding AL accountable.
