Students remove Chattogram Education Board gate
After a day-long protest demanding simultaneous HSC and equivalent exams across the country, re-examination for students who could not take the exams due to floods, and prompt resumption of damaged admit cards and registration cards, agitating students have break opened a part of the main gate of the Chattogram Education Board.
The students started the protest by taking a position in front of the Education Board on CDA Avenue in the city from Tuesday (July 14) morning. Later, when they took up a position at the gate number 2 intersection of Sholashar, traffic on one side of the road was stopped. Although the police tried to remove the students, they continued their position.
In the afternoon, a delegation of students submitted a memorandum containing three demands to the board authorities. Then, when an aggrieved section tried to enter the education board, a part of the main gate was removed and they left for a procession.
Chattogram Education Board Examination Controller Professor Parvez Sajjad Chowdhury said that in the morning, the students took up position at Gate No. 2. Later, after submitting the memorandum in the afternoon, a group of students pushed and removed a part of the main gate and moved towards Gate No. 2 again.
The protesting students have announced to hold another protest program at the same place at 11 am on Wednesday (July 15).
Meanwhile, Chattogram Education Board Secretary Professor Mohammad Zahirul Haque Swapan said that due to the flood situation, the Chattogram Education Board examinations have been postponed until July 16. So far, four exams of the board have been postponed.
