National Consensus Commission Vice Chairman, Professor Ali Riaz, stated on Tuesday that the success of the ongoing political dialogue in Bangladesh depends on the unity of the democratic forces in the country.

“The success of our efforts will rely on how united Bangladesh’s democratic forces can remain,” he said, delivering the opening remarks at a dialogue between the National Consensus Commission and the Revolutionary Workers Party at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Complex.

Discussing the series of dialogues with political parties, Prof Riaz noted that while there is consensus on many issues, differences remain. “A democratic society is inherently pluralistic. While we may not always agree, our shared goal unites us,” he said.

He urged the importance of seizing this opportunity, adding, “The people of Bangladesh want us to make the most of this moment. It is time to begin the process of true state-building.”

A 10-member delegation from the Revolutionary Workers Party, led by General Secretary Saiful Haque, joined the talks, which were presided over by Prof Riaz. The meeting also saw the participation of Consensus Commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, and Dr Iftekharuzzaman. The discussion was moderated by Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser.
