Sudden downpour disrupts morning commute in Dhaka
A sudden downpour swept across Dhaka on Sunday morning (September 13), bringing relief from days of sweltering heat but disrupting the morning commute across the capital.
The rain began around 7:30am and continued for about an hour and a half, as dark clouds blanketed the city during peak travel hours. Many pedestrians and office-goers were caught without umbrellas and had to make their way through the heavy rain.
The showers brought a welcome drop in temperature and eased the oppressive humidity. However, the sudden weather also triggered a shortage of public transport on several major routes, leaving many commuters stranded on city roads.
The downpour came after several days of hot and humid weather in the capital.
