Dhaka and its adjoining areas are expected to experience mainly sunny weather on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In its forecast issued for six hours from 7:00am on Thursday (February 19), the department said the sky would remain mostly clear, with dry conditions prevailing throughout the day. Daytime temperatures may rise slightly, while there is no possibility of rain or thunderstorms.

Winds from the north to northwesterly direction may blow at a speed of 6–10 km per hour.

At 6:00am, the maximum temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 18.2 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity stood at 75 percent.

On Wednesday, the capital recorded a maximum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.9 degrees Celsius.

Sunset in the capital is scheduled for 5:56pm today, while sunrise tomorrow is expected at 6:29am.

The nationwide forecast indicates no major change in weather conditions. However, light fog may occur in different parts of the country from midnight to early morning. Dense fog in some areas could temporarily disrupt air, river and road communications, the department warned.
