Supreme Court helpline receives 723 calls in two months
The helpline launched to help people seeking judicial service has received 723 calls in two months.
According to a BSS report, lawyers have termed the Chief Justice's initiative to launch this service a milestone.
Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed launched this service on September 25 to help trial seekers.
Public Relations Officer of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Md Shafiqul Islam said, “After the launch of this service, a total of 723 calls regarding legal advice, case-related information and filing of complaints have been received on the helpline number (01316154216) till November 24. Of them, 426 people have received legal advice and 243 have received case-related information.”
“Moreover, 42 people were provided with services regarding various irregularities, negligence in work, delay in receiving services and corruption. Necessary legal steps have been taken regarding the complaints,” he added.
Barrister Salauddin Dolan, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, said, “This service is playing a positive role in reducing the harassment of people seeking legal services. It has enhanced the image of the Supreme Court.”
