Suspended Assistant Commissioner Urmi gets bail again

Suspended Assistant Commissioner Tapashee Tabassum Urmi surrendered in court in a defamation case and got bail. At the same time, the court has postponed the date of the charge hearing to February 4.

On Sunday (January 26) morning, the case was scheduled for charge hearing in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah.

At that time, Tapashee Tabassum Urmi appeared in court and surrendered and applied for bail. At the same time, her lawyer applied for postponing the charge hearing.

The court granted the application and fixed the next date of charge hearing as February 4. At the same time, Tapashee Tabassum Urmi's bail.

Earlier, on October 8, Abu Hanif, a member of the People's Rights Council's Higher Council and media coordinator, filed a defamation case against her in a Dhaka court for making negative comments about martyr Abu Sayeed and other martyrs of the July coup. After recording and reviewing the plaintiff's statement, the court issued a summons to her to appear in court on November 28. Tapsee Tabassum Urmi surrendered on that day and was granted bail.

The case alleges that Tapashee Tabassum posted a post on Facebook on October 5. There, she made negative comments about Abu Sayeed and Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government.
