Swecchasebak Dal activist stabbed to death in Bogura
A Swecchasebak Dal activist named Zakaria Shoyan, 26, was stabbed to death in Sariakandi, Bogura. The incident took place at around 8:30pm in Jorgachha Purbapara village of Bhelabari union in Sariakandi upazila on Wednesday (March 25).
The deceased Shoyan is the son of the late Tipu Mandal of Jorgachha Madhyapara village. He was a worker of Bhelabari union Swecchasebak Dal. He is also the nephew of BNP leader and former chairman of Bhelabari union Parishad Lutfar Haider Rumi.
Local residents said that Shoyan was sitting with his friends near Tagor's Rice Mill near Jorgachha Bazar and chatting. Someone stabbed him in the stomach there at around 8:30pm. He died soon after people rescued him and admitted him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Sariakandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Asaduzzaman said that it was initially learned that the deceased Shayan was involved in BNP politics. However, it is not known who stabbed him for what reason. Immediately after the incident, the police launched an investigation to identify and arrest the people involved.
