The Coast Guard has detained a person with Tk50 lakh in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali. Rezaul Karim alias Kajal Mridha was held with a bag full of money on Wednesday (February 11) night. According to information spread on social media, he has been claimed as a BNP leader. However, his personal Facebook ID has mentioned himself as the joint convener of the Kalapara Municipality unit Swechchhasebak Dal. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalapara Police Station Md. Rabiul Islam confirmed the matter. He said that he is aware of the incident, but the detained person has not been handed over to the police station yet. The process of taking legal action is underway. Further legal action in this incident is under process, said police.

পটুয়াখালীর কলাপাড়া উপজেলায় ৫০ লাখ টাকাসহ রেজাউল করিম ওরফে কাজল মৃধা (৪০) নামে এক ব্যক্তিকে আটক করেছে কোস্টগার্ড। বুধবার (১১ ফেব্রুয়ারি) রাতে ব্যাগভর্তি টাকাসহ তাঁকে আটক করা হয়। সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে ছড়িয়ে পড়া তথ্যে তাঁকে বিএনপি নেতা হিসেবে দাবি করা হয়েছে। তবে তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত ফেসবুক আইডিতে নিজেকে কলাপাড়া পৌরসভা স্বেচ্ছাসেবক দলের যুগ্ম আহ্বায়ক হিসেবে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। কলাপাড়া থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. রবিউল ইসলাম বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, ঘটনাটি তাঁর জানা রয়েছে, তবে এখনো আটক ব্যক্তিকে থানায় হস্তান্তর করা হয়নি। আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার প্রক্রিয়া চলছে। এ ঘটনায় পরবর্তী আইনগত পদক্ষেপ প্রক্রিয়াধীন রয়েছে বলে সংশ্লিষ্টরা জানিয়েছেন।
