Sweltering heat persists in Dhaka; scattered rain likely in some regions
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has reported ongoing discomfort in Dhaka due to persistent heat and high humidity. While overall temperatures remain steady, elevated humidity levels are exacerbating the heat stress.
As of 6:00am, the capital recorded a temperature of 28.3°C with 88% relative humidity. Light rain is expected in parts of the city, accompanied by south to southwesterly winds at speeds of 10 to 15 km/h.
The day's forecast suggests scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms by evening in several regions, including Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Isolated rain is also likely in parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Rangpur divisions.
Some areas may experience brief spells of heavy rainfall. Additionally, mild heatwaves prevailing over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Bogura, and Chuadanga are expected to ease slightly.
The Meteorological Department advises residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor exposure during peak daytime hours.
