Swiss President congratulates Tarique Rahman

Swiss President Guy Parmelin has congratulated Tarique Rahman on assuming office as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He also expressed his interest in deepening the long-standing constructive cooperation between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.

The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh published Parmelin's letter of congratulations on Thursday on the social media platform X.

In the letter, Parmelin, congratulating the Tarique Rahman, wrote, "I extend my sincere congratulations on being elected as the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and wish him all-round success on the eve of assuming office."

He also mentioned that this appointment has ushered in an important moment for Bangladesh. The Swiss President also expressed hope that his leadership will make a significant contribution to the progress and development of the country.

Expressing his hope to further strengthen the long-standing cordial relations between the two countries, Parmelin said that there is an opportunity to further expand cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

It is worth noting that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won more than two-thirds of the seats in the 13th parliamentary elections held on February 12. Then, on February 17, the party's chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the Prime Minister.
