Sylhet DC office phone number hacked, money demanded via bKash

The mobile number of the media cell at the Sylhet Deputy Commissioner's office has been hacked. Complaints have been received that money is being demanded via bKash from various individuals using the WhatsApp account of that number.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pinky Saha confirmed the matter.

She said the media cell's number — 01730331022 — was hacked around 12pm on Saturday. The concerned authorities were informed immediately and efforts are underway to recover the number.

The ADC urged everyone to avoid responding to any financial demands or deceptive messages from the number and not to make any financial transactions.

A journalist working in Sylhet received a message from the DC office's media cell number, requesting Tk 15,000 urgently and providing a bKash number (01351224955).

The ADC said it could be the work of a fraudulent group, and legal action is being taken in this regard.
