Tahsif jumped into Turag river as some people chased us: Dwip
The friend of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dwip, who is in the custody of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in connection with his death, has told investigators that they were talking at the spot when some people chased them. Tahsif jumped into the Turag River, while Dwip managed to flee.
The PBI on Friday said a motorcycle without a number plate was found in the Mazar Basti area of Tongi, around 50 yards from the spot where Tahsif’s body was recovered.
PBI officials said the Rajbarighat area is known as a drug hotspot. They suspect Tahsif may have fallen into the river and drowned while fleeing drug traders.
Mohammad Abu Yusuf, special superintendent of police (media) at the PBI headquarters, said today that they were verifying whether the recovered motorcycle belonged to Tahsif. However, their preliminary assessment was that the motorcycle was likely his.
The recovered motorcycle has been taken to Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital. The PBI is assisting the River Police in investigating the incident.
A PBI superintendent said several raids were conducted at different locations throughout the night with Dwip. During questioning, Dwip reportedly told investigators that they were talking at the spot when some people chased them. Tahsif jumped into the river, while Dwip fled.
The PBI said it was verifying the information obtained from Dwip during questioning, along with other details related to the incident.
Earlier, on Wednesday afternoon (October 28), Tahsif Souri’s body was recovered from the Turag River, a day after he went missing, police said.
