Tamim Iqbal has expressed disappointment over no initiative to form a government-level investigation committee on the sexual harassment allegations brought by Bangladesh women's national team pacer Jahanara Alam.

In a recent interview, Jahanara Alam accused former selector and manager Manjurul Islam of sexual harassment. In response to this, many people including Tamim Iqbal stood by Jahanara.

Tamim made a post on Facebook on Sunday (November 9) night, stating that no committee has been formed or any initiative has been taken by the National Sports Council or the government in the wake of this allegation.

He wrote, 'After Jahanara Alam made the complaint, many more people have started speaking out, which is encouraging. However, there are still some concerns. No committee has been formed or initiative has been taken by the National Sports Council or the government.’

He further wrote, ‘Many of those accused are in high positions in the BCB, so there is doubt about the BCB investigation committee.’

Describing the government’s silence as regrettable, Tamim wrote, ‘Although there is a commotion in the country’s cricket about this incident, no effective action has been taken by the government or the ministry. I am demanding again as before, that an independent investigation committee be formed immediately, so that no one from the BCB is present. The committee will include experts knowledgeable about women’s rights, sexual harassment crimes, and psychological aspects. If we do not solve this issue properly, we will be criminals not only to the sports field but to the women of the entire country.’

The former national team captain wrote, ‘There is a slogan going on in the BCB now – Cricket for All. But I think that before that, it is important to ensure safety for all. "All sports in the country are our pride, our honor, and our responsibility."
