Former national cricket team captain Tamim Iqbal has wished a speedy recovery to BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, who has been hospitalised for nearly a week.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, November 29, Tamim wrote, “Wishing a quick recovery for BNP chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia. She has survived many adversities in life. This time too she will overcome all fears and return with a smile. Let us all pray for her recovery.”

On November 23, she was taken to Evercare Hospital for routine check-ups, where doctors detected an infection in her chest and complications in her heart and lungs. The next day, after her condition deteriorated, she was moved to the CCU. Later, cardiologist Professor Shahabuddin Talukder said her condition had slightly improved.

On November 24, her personal physician Professor Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain told the media that Khaleda Zia’s family had requested prayers from the nation.

Meanwhile, on November 28, BNP organised special prayers and supplications across the country for her immediate recovery. The programme was announced the previous day by the party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the Nayapaltan central office.
