Tarek Rahman, member secretary of Amjonotar Dal, at the request of BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, has finally ended his hunger strike and was taken to hospital.

Tarek Rahman had been on a hunger strike unto death since last Tuesday in front of the main gate of the Election Commission, as his party, Amjonotar Dal, was not included in the EC’s registration list.

On November 9, Sunday night at 8:30 pm, in the presence of BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, Tarek Rahman was taken by ambulance to Gonoshashtho Hospital in Dhaka.

On this matter, Salehuddin Ahmed said, "The member secretary of the Amjanatar Dal, Tarek Rahman, is a shining star of the anti-fascist movement. Many of those who were with him have been martyred or crippled. He himself has suffered much torture."

He said, "They applied for party registration so they could play a role in the democratic movement in the days ahead. However, after lengthy consideration, their party was not granted registration."

He added, "Today I spoke to the Election Commission requesting a review of his application. I have requested Tarek to break his fast. He has accepted the request. He has been taken to hospital. I hope he recovers well and that the EC will review his party's appeal."
