Tarique Rahman arrives in Barishal rally
BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has arrived in Barishal to take part in election campaigning ahead of the 13th National Parliament election. This marks his first visit to Barishal in over two decades.
He landed by helicopter at the outer field of Barishal Stadium at 12:55 pm on Wednesday, February 4. Crowds of party activists and the general public had been gathering since morning at Bells Park and surrounding areas in anticipation of his arrival.
Hundreds of thousands of leaders, activists, and supporters from six districts of the Barishal division gathered at the rally venue to catch a glimpse of Tarique Rahman.
Party sources stated that Tarique Rahman last visited Barishal in 2006, when he was serving as the BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General. Party leaders remarked that his arrival in Barishal this time as Chairperson has generated fresh excitement and interest in the BNP's politics across the southern region.
Upon disembarking from the helicopter, he was welcomed by top leaders of the Barishal division and district. The administration has implemented strict security measures for his visit, with heavy surveillance by police, BGB, and other law enforcement members around the field and adjacent areas.
Leaders and activists of the Barishal city and district BNP stated that seeing their party chief directly after nearly two decades is an extremely emotional and inspiring moment for them. In their words, this is not merely a public gathering, but a symbol of the BNP's strength, heritage, and political resurgence.
