As part of the 13th National Parliamentary Election campaign, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Mymensingh on Tuesday (January 27). He traveled by road from Gulshan, Dhaka, and entered the city around midday.

Tarique Rahman is scheduled to rest briefly at the District Circuit House before addressing a campaign rally there as the chief guest.

With rebel candidates contesting in 8 out of Mymensingh’s 11 parliamentary seats, the local electoral dynamics have gained a new dimension. Party sources say BNP has the potential to win at least five of these rebel-contested seats.

Supporters from various city and district thanas and wards are joining the rally with small processions. In preparation, large portraits of Tarique Rahman and the party’s founder, Ziaur Rahman, have been displayed at prominent locations across Mymensingh city.

After the rally, Tarique Rahman is set to address separate election gatherings at Rajbari Maidan in Gazipur and Azampur Eidgah Maidan in Uttara before returning to his residence in Gulshan, Dhaka.
