Tarique Rahman arrives in Saidpur airport

Prime Ministser Tarique Rahman has arrived at Saidpur Airport on Monday morning (March 16) to kick off a nationwide canal excavation programme.

He landed at the airport at 10:15am, where party leaders and activists welcomed him with floral tributes.

According to party sources, Tarique Rahman will travel from the airport in a special bulletproof bus through Saidpur town toward Dinajpur. He is scheduled to inaugurate the re-excavation of a 12-kilometre canal in Balrampur Sahapara, Kaharol Upazila, marking the start of the canal excavation programme across 54 districts.

The inauguration in other districts will also be conducted virtually.

After the ceremony, Tarique Rahman will visit the Faridpur graveyard in Dinajpur to pay respects at the graves of his maternal grandfather Md. Iskandar Majumdar, grandmother Tayeba Majumdar, and maternal aunt Khurshid Jahan Haque (Chocolate).

His arrival in Saidpur has generated widespread enthusiasm among party supporters. Tarique Rahman is expected to return to Dhaka later tonight around 9:30pm.
