Tarique Rahman expresses gratitude to nation

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed his gratitude to the people of Bangladesh following his return to the country after 17 years.

In a message posted on his verified Facebook page on Saturday night (December 27), Tarique Rahman described the day as one of the most memorable moments of his life, saying he was overwhelmed by the warm public reception, the large crowds lining the streets of Dhaka and the prayers of millions.

He thanked those who stood by him and his family during years of hardship, noting that their continued support gave him strength. He also expressed appreciation to people from all walks of life, including civil society members, youths, professionals, farmers and workers, saying their unity demonstrated the true strength of the nation.

The BNP leader acknowledged the role of the media in responsibly covering what he termed a historic moment for audiences at home and abroad. He also thanked law enforcement agencies for ensuring security and maintaining peace during his return.

Tarique Rahman further expressed gratitude to leaders of other political parties and movements who welcomed his return, praising their commitment to democracy, multi-party coexistence and a peaceful political culture.

Outlining his vision for the future, Tarique Rahman said he has presented a practical plan for a Bangladesh marked by peace and dignity, where citizens feel safe and respected and children grow up with hope. He said the plan is aimed at building a united and inclusive country for all Bangladeshis.

He concluded by thanking the nation once again for welcoming him home and offered prayers for the continued well-being of Bangladesh and its people.
