BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community in Bangladesh and around the world on Sunday, marking one of their most significant religious festivals.

In a statement issued on the occasion, Rahman emphasized the enduring values of religious harmony and cultural diversity in Bangladesh. “People of all faiths—across every group and community—celebrate their religious traditions with enthusiasm and joy. This is the beauty of Bangladesh’s timeless social and religious values,” he said.

Rahman underscored the importance of mutual respect and brotherhood among different religious and ethnic communities, noting that the Constitution guarantees the safety and rights of all citizens, regardless of belief, ideology, or background. “Ensuring the security of every citizen is the responsibility of the state,” he added.

Citing a Hadith, Rahman warned against injustice toward non-Muslims under state protection, stating that the Prophet Muhammad himself vowed to stand against such oppression on the Day of Judgment.

Calling for vigilance during the festival, Rahman urged law enforcement agencies to remain alert so that no attempts are made to disrupt communal harmony or public safety. “In a fascism-free Bangladesh, it is the moral duty of every citizen to protect the dignity and security of fellow citizens,” he said.

He encouraged the Hindu community to celebrate Durga Puja with confidence and joy across the country, spreading messages of peace and unity. “Religion belongs to individuals, but the state belongs to all. The right to security is universal,” Rahman affirmed.

Concluding his message, Rahman extended greetings on behalf of himself and the BNP, describing the party as one committed to democracy and inclusive values. “We wish the Hindu community a joyous and peaceful Durga Puja celebration,” he said.
