BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has arrived Rajshahi on Thursday (January 29), marking his first trip to the city as party chief and his first visit in nearly 22 years.

He arrived at 12:15pm and is scheduled to address an election rally at the historic Madrasa ground.

Party supporters began gathering early in the morning, and by late morning, hundreds of thousands had assembled at and around the rally site to see Rahman in person.

Local dignitaries, including BNP press wing member Sairul Kabir Khan, joined the stage around 11:30am, while the crowd continued to grow.

Attendees expressed hopes that Rahman would outline plans for Rajshahi’s development, call for a terror-free country, and emphasise public safety.

Local BNP leaders and the party’s candidates for 13 parliamentary seats across Rajshahi, Natore, and Chapainawabganj addressed the gathering prior to Tarique Rahman.

After arriving from the airport, Tarique Rahman visited the Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R.) Dargah Sharif before joining the rally.

The event includes participation from BNP supporters across Rajshahi district, the city, and neighboring Natore and Chapainawabganj.

Following the rally, Rahman will depart for Nawganj for another election meeting at ATM Ground in the evening.

Rahman last visited Rajshahi in 2004 as BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General. This marks his first visit as party chairman.
