Tarique Rahman takes stage at BNP rally in Rajshahi
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman took the stage at a massive election rally at the historic Madrasa ground in Rajshahi on Thursday afternoon (January 29), drawing loud applause from party leaders, activists and supporters.
Tarique Rahman appeared on the dais around 2:00pm, waving to the crowd as supporters welcomed him with cheers and clapping.
Earlier in the day, he arrived in Rajshahi by air and paid respects at the shrine of Sufi saint Shah Makhdum (R.).
The rally began at 11:30am with Quran recitation, and by early afternoon the Madrasa ground was filled to capacity.
BNP supporters joined the gathering in processions from various wards of Rajshahi city, as well as from neighbouring Natore and Chapainawabganj districts.
Large video screens were installed on both sides of the stage and at corners of the field to ensure visibility for the crowd.
After the Rajshahi rally, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to travel by road to Naogaon, where he will address an election meeting at the ATM ground at 5:30pm. He will later speak at another rally at Altafunnesa Playground in Bogura at 7:30pm.
As part of his three-day northern region tour, the BNP Chairperson will visit Rangpur on Friday, including a visit to Pirganj to pay respects at Abu Sayed’s grave, followed by a rally at Rangpur Eidgah ground. On Saturday, he is scheduled to address election rallies in Sirajganj and Tangail before concluding the tour.
